Machinists ratify agreement with UTAS

Montréal, QC – Members of IAM Local Lodge 712 have ratified a new collective agreement with UTAS.
The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 2.25 per cent in year one and 2.25 per cent in year two and 2.5 per cent in year three. Other agreement highlights include:
- In recognition of seniority, workers with more than 12 months service receive a signing bonus of $2,000.00 while those with less than 12 months service receive a signing bonus of $500.00 upon ratification of the agreement
- Introduction of a night shift including a bonus of $2/hour
“I would like to congratulate Robert Thomas and Neil Giroux for their outstanding work during this negotiation,” said IAM District 11 Business Representative Eric Rancourt. “We made no concessions while getting interesting gains for all of our members, despite the fact that Airbus has asked for a 20 per cent costs reduction.”
The 23 members manufacture the engine nacelles for the A220/100 and A-220/300. The IAM is the largest union in the Canadian aerospace sector.
