Bargaining 101
DownloadBargaining, or collective bargaining, is the process through which a union negotiates with an employer on behalf of its members to establish fair wages, benefits, working conditions, and other employment terms. This process involves presenting demands, discussing proposals, and finding agreements that satisfy both workers and management. Collective bargaining empowers employees by giving them a unified voice, ensuring that decisions about their workplace are not made unilaterally by the employer. Successful bargaining results in a collective agreement that protects workers’ rights, improves workplace standards, and creates a fair and balanced environment for all employees.
