Machinists Sign New Deal at Purewood Inc.

Brampton, ON – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1922 employed by PureWood Incorporated have a new three-year collective agreement.
“This agreement reflects the tough economic times currently being experienced by the company,” explained IAMAW District Lodge 78 Business Representative Derek Ferguson. “However, the company is optimistic it can improve its market share in the near future and our members will assist in making that happen.”
Along with improved contract language, the agreement provides for wage increases of 1.5 per cent in the first year retroactive to June 5, 2011, 2 per cent in the second year and a total increase in the third year of 2.5 per cent with 1.25 per cent on June 5, 2013 and 1.25 per cent on December 5, 2013.
The 33 members manufacture custom wood products for the Canadian homebuilding industry.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
