Machinists Accept One Deal but Reject the Other!

For Immediate Release

Montréal, QC – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1660 employed in the workshop of Avery Weigh-Tronix, have narrowly accepted a new one-year collective agreement. Machinists employed at the Avery Weigh Tronix Service Centre in Québec City have rejected the company’s last offer and voted 100 per cent in favour of strike action.
The new one-year agreement in Montréal provides for a ten dollar increase in the safety shoe allowance, 100 per cent coverage for eye glasses to a maximum of $600 and an increase in the Employers Contribution to Group Insurance of $2.00 per month. The 38 members manufacture weigh scales for retail market in Québec.
The members in Québec City voted for strike action to back demands for wage parity with their fellow members in Montréal. A strike date has not been set.
