Toronto, ON – “Employees of the Extension Guys are the newest members of IAM Local Lodge 2323.

“It has taken almost a year of setting the stage for unionization of this small group of people at one of our existing unionized companies, AOSS, but today we were successful in bringing 11 new members into the union fold,” explained IAM Transportation District Lodge 140 Organizer Sam Jabbar.

This group of employees, sets up and takes down the movable stanchion lines used for check-in and customs areas at Pearson Terminals One and Three. “As an example, if Air Transat had a late flight coming in with more than 250 people on board, our new members would deliver extra stanchion lines to the customs area to accommodate the additional passengers,” explained Jabbar.

“After many meetings we were able to convince management to merge these new members into an existing group instead of creating yet another company,” said Jabbar. The parent group already operates five separate companies at Pearson, three of which are represented by the IAM.

The IAM is the largest union at Pearson Airport and the largest in the Canadian Air Transport Sector.
