AECL inks new Agreement with Machinists!

Pinawa, MB – Atomic Energy of Canada Limited has a new collective agreement with members of IAMAW Local Lodge 608.
The three-year agreement provides wage increases of 1.75 per cent in each year. The 81 members employed at the Whiteshell Laboratories, 100 kilometers northeast of Winnipeg, include carpenters, millwrights, electricians, welders and other trades and non-trades..
The Whiteshell Laboratories, which is now in the process of decommissioning, operated from 1961 to 1997. The Labs pioneered the development of dry storage containment facilities for used nuclear fuel, a technology that is now in use throughout the world.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare and defense related industries.
