Trojan Tire workers picket in Burlington over wage dispute

Burlington – April 29, 2025: Sixteen IAM Union members of local 103 of the workforce at Trojan Tire in Burlington set up a picket line early this morning as part of an ongoing dispute over wages. This action comes amid negotiations for their second collective agreement, which have stalled in recent weeks.

Holding signs that read “IAM on Strike Against Trojan Tire”, the workers chanted and marched outside the facility, calling on management to return to the bargaining table with a serious proposal.

Ben Osakue, District 78 Business Representative in charge from the IAM Union say they are seeking fairer compensation and improved terms from the employer.

We’ve been more than patient,” said Ben. “This is our second contract, and we’ve made it clear that wages need to reflect the rising cost of living and the value our members bring to this company. We’re not asking for anything outrageous — just what’s fair.

The picketers, positioned outside the company’s facility, carried signs and chanted slogans as they called for management to return to the bargaining table with a serious proposal. Some workers on the line expressed frustration that their wages have not kept pace with inflation or industry standards.

Today’s picket is the first formal escalation, and more actions could follow if progress is not made.

The union is urging Trojan Tire to return to discussions with an offer that acknowledges the contributions of its employees.
