Machinists ratify with Cummins Western Canada (Edmonton Branch)

Edmonton, AB – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1722 have ratified a new collective agreement with Cummins Western Canada (Edmonton Branch).
 
“It was a long and drawn out set of negotiations but with perseverance and the assistance of a great Negotiation Committee, we were able to end up with a strong contract,” explained IAM District Lodge 14 Business Representative Dan Uchacz. 
 
The new three-year agreement provides wage increases of 3.02 per cent in the first year and 3 per cent in the second and third year respectively. 
The committee was able to make many improvements to the contract including:
An improved pension plan. The plan now earns 4% (from each employee and the employer) of all earnings except WCB and Disability instead of $1.55 on base hours worked. 
Improved Seniority language.
Improved Union language through-out the body of the agreement.
Improved Vision care and Dental.
Improved apprenticeship language.
Improved Grievance Procedures and Steward allocations
Improve Vacation entitlement 
The inclusion of the maintenance person into the membership 
Retro pay for all hours worked beyond the end of the expired contract to the date of ratification.
 
 
The 100 plus members consist of parts and warehouse personnel and heavy duty technicians. Cummins Western Canada (Edmonton Branch) sells rents and services all sizes of Cummins engines and power generating plants for a variety of applications.
