New Alberta MLA credits IAM with road map to victory

NDP Alberta election win
Let me show you my new house – IAM Canadian General Vice President Dave Ritchie (left) and IAM District Lodge 14 Directing Business Representative Bob McKinnon (right) join newly elected Alberta MLA and IAM Local Lodge 1681 member Jamie Kleinsteuber, in front of his new house, the Alberta Legislative buildings in downtown Edmonton.

Kleinsteuber was one of nine trade unionists elected under the NDP banner in the May 5, 2015 landslide election victory that swept away the ruling conservatives after 44 years in power. The 38 year old Kleinsteuber was elected in the constituency of Calgary-Northern Hills and credits his participation in last September’s IAM Political Action Symposium with providing him the road map to victory. “I hope Jamie inspires more of our members to get involved politically and run for public office, “said Dave Ritchie. “He is proof that we can make a difference.”
