Machinists Ratify Prouse Motors Agreement

Sault Ste. Marie, On – Members of IAM Local Lodge 2332 have ratified a new collective agreement with Prouse Motors.
The three-year agreement provides wage and pension package increases totaling nine per cent while bringing the pension contribution in the IAM pension plan up to 11 per cent. “One of the key factors of this agreement benefitted general garage workers,” explained IAM Grand Lodge Representative Ralph Martin. “By eliminating the new hire progression rates we were able to get general garage workers an additional six per cent.”
Other agreement highlights included:
- Increased life insurance coverage
- Increased tool allowance
- Increased safety boot allowance
- Vision care now added to benefits coverage
The 30 members included mechanics, service writers, body and paint shop personnel and general garage workers. The IAM also represents workers at three other auto dealerships in the steel city.
