IAM Local 235 Secures Major Gains for Vision Truck Workers in New Collective Agreement

Members of IAM Local 235 in Brampton have ratified a strong new collective agreement at Vision Truck, securing meaningful gains that improve wages, benefits, and overall working conditions while exceeding many industry standards.

The new four-year agreement delivers steady wage increases that provide both immediate impact and long-term financial stability, with raises of 4% in the first year, 4% in the second year, followed by 3% in both the third and fourth years. This structured progression ensures members continue to see consistent growth in their earnings over the life of the contract.

One of the standout achievements in this agreement is the introduction of five weeks of vacation after 20 years of service, a significant milestone that goes beyond what is typically offered in the industry. In addition, members will benefit from a 5.5% increase in annual pension contributions, strengthening their long-term financial security and retirement outlook.

The agreement also delivers substantial increases in key allowances that directly support workers on the job. Tool allowance has increased by 12.5%, while the personal protective equipment (PPE) allowance has seen a remarkable 69% increase, ensuring members are better equipped and supported in maintaining safe working conditions.

Premium pay has also been significantly improved, with a 100% increase in off-shift premiums and a 67% increase in weekend premiums. These gains recognize the demands of working outside regular hours and ensure members are fairly compensated for their time and flexibility.

Beyond financial improvements, the agreement introduces important enhancements to workplace protections and day-to-day conditions. Members will benefit from improved personal leave language, employer-paid sick and medical notes, and stronger provisions that support union stewards in representing workers effectively. The agreement also includes a third shift option, providing additional flexibility for scheduling, as well as the provision of winter jackets to support members working in challenging conditions.

This agreement reflects the strength of collective action and the impact of workers coming together with a clear voice. Through the leadership and efforts of IAM Local 235, Vision Truck workers have secured a contract that not only addresses today’s needs but also builds a stronger and more secure future for all members.
