M\u00eame le Premier ministre islandais, Katr\u00edn Jakobsd\u00f3ttir, s&rsquo;est joint au mouvement. Les syndicats ont largement organis\u00e9 cette gr\u00e8ve !<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gr\u00e8ve a d\u00e9but\u00e9 \u00e0 14h38, symbolisant le moment de la journ\u00e9e de travail o\u00f9 les femmes islandaises cessent de gagner de l&rsquo;argent par rapport \u00e0 leurs confr\u00e8res masculins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gr\u00e8ve a connu un \u00e9norme succ\u00e8s et a mis en \u00e9vidence le r\u00f4le important que jouent les femmes dans l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie islandaise. En cons\u00e9quence de la gr\u00e8ve, les \u00e9coles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 ferm\u00e9es, les transports publics ont \u00e9t\u00e9 retard\u00e9s, les h\u00f4pitaux ont manqu\u00e9 de personnel et les chambres d&rsquo;h\u00f4tel n&rsquo;ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 prises en charge. Le message \u00e9tait clair : les femmes font un travail essentiel et soutiennent l&rsquo;\u00e9conomie de mani\u00e8re significative ; en leur absence, les services dont nous d\u00e9pendons tous s&rsquo;arr\u00eatent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gr\u00e8ve impliquait de quitter le travail, mais aussi de ne pas effectuer de t\u00e2ches m\u00e9nag\u00e8res, afin de souligner le nombre d&rsquo;heures disproportionn\u00e9 que les femmes consacrent au travail non r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9 dans les m\u00e9nages.&nbsp; Cette action visait \u00e0 combler l&rsquo;\u00e9cart salarial persistant entre les hommes et les femmes et rev\u00eat une grande importance pour les femmes canadiennes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gr\u00e8ve islandaise s&rsquo;inscrit dans le cadre d&rsquo;une action nationale men\u00e9e en 2021 pour lutter contre l&rsquo;\u00e9cart salarial entre les hommes et les femmes et r\u00e9clamer un salaire \u00e9gal pour un travail \u00e9gal. L&rsquo;Islande a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;avant-garde de l&rsquo;\u00e9galit\u00e9 des sexes, devenant le premier pays \u00e0 rendre obligatoire la certification de l&rsquo;\u00e9galit\u00e9 de r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration en 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les employeurs comptant au moins 25 salari\u00e9s devaient ainsi prouver qu&rsquo;ils r\u00e9mun\u00e9raient leurs employ\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re \u00e9gale, quel que soit leur sexe. Bien que la gr\u00e8ve n&rsquo;ait dur\u00e9 que quelques heures, elle a permis de faire passer un message fort : les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s salariales fond\u00e9es sur le sexe sont inacceptables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au Canada, il y a eu un mouvement historique en faveur de l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale. Elle a commenc\u00e9 avec la l\u00e9gislation du Manitoba en 1986, suivie par l&rsquo;Ontario en 1987, l&rsquo;\u00cele-du-Prince-\u00c9douard en 1988, le Nouveau-Brunswick et la Nouvelle-\u00c9cosse en 1989. Le Qu\u00e9bec a ensuite mis en \u0153uvre des lois similaires en 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les r\u00e9percussions de la gr\u00e8ve islandaise sur le Canada sont \u00e9videntes, car le pays est confront\u00e9 \u00e0 ses propres probl\u00e8mes d&rsquo;\u00e9cart salarial entre les hommes et les femmes. Les donn\u00e9es de Statistique Canada r\u00e9v\u00e8lent qu&rsquo;en moyenne, les femmes canadiennes gagnent environ 87 cents pour chaque dollar gagn\u00e9 par les hommes. Cet \u00e9cart se renforce encore pour les femmes issues de communaut\u00e9s minoritaires, ce qui met en \u00e9vidence la dimension intersectorielle des disparit\u00e9s salariales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Canada a fait des progr\u00e8s l\u00e9gislatifs en mati\u00e8re d&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale. La loi sur l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale, par exemple, impose un salaire \u00e9gal pour un travail de valeur \u00e9gale dans la fonction publique f\u00e9d\u00e9rale. N\u00e9anmoins, il reste du travail \u00e0 faire pour que ces principes soient appliqu\u00e9s dans les diff\u00e9rents secteurs d&rsquo;activit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gr\u00e8ve islandaise est une source d&rsquo;inspiration pour les d\u00e9fenseurs canadiens de l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale, car elle souligne l&rsquo;importance de l&rsquo;action collective dans la lutte contre les in\u00e9galit\u00e9s salariales entre les femmes et les hommes. Le Canada a introduit une l\u00e9gislation f\u00e9d\u00e9rale sur l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale en 2018, une \u00e9tape importante vers l&rsquo;\u00e9galit\u00e9 salariale entre les sexes. Le chemin vers l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale se poursuit, avec des d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s \u00e0 la mise en \u0153uvre et \u00e0 l&rsquo;application de la l\u00e9gislation. Cependant, la gr\u00e8ve islandaise souligne la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 permanente de faire pression en faveur de l&rsquo;\u00e9galit\u00e9 salariale entre les sexes, tant au Canada qu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9chelle mondiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En r\u00e9sum\u00e9, la gr\u00e8ve islandaise pour l\u2019\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale est un puissant rappel de la lutte incessante pour un salaire \u00e9gal pour un travail \u00e9gal, une mission que le Canada partage. La gr\u00e8ve interpelle les Canadiens et souligne la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de poursuivre les efforts pour combler l\u2019\u00e9cart salarial entre les sexes au pays et le travail non r\u00e9mun\u00e9r\u00e9 des femmes, le travail quotidien qui fait fonctionner nos familles et nos collectivit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette gr\u00e8ve souligne le pouvoir collectif des personnes qui r\u00e9clament la justice et l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 et montre que la lutte pour l&rsquo;\u00e9quit\u00e9 salariale est un mouvement mondial, qui transcende les fronti\u00e8res et inspire le changement dans le monde entier.
