26 new members at Pearson International Airport join the IAM
Toronto, ON – Workers at Menzies Aviation (Canada) Ltd, have joined the IAM.
“This group of 26 workers were never given the opportunity to join a union before and acted immediately when given the chance to and given a choice,” said Michael Corrado, General Chairperson for IAM District 140.
“With a 30-year-high in inflation and the pandemic surrounding them, they made their choice quickly. The Canada Labour Board granted us certification soon after I filed,” added Corrado.
He concluded, “Workers in the airline industry need strong unions, now, more than ever! These are good jobs and they are jobs worth fighting for!”
The new members provide cargo services for KLM, Air France, and China Eastern and will join IAM Local 2413. The IAM is the largest union representing workers in the airlines, at airports and related industries.
