Wilson & Proctor Machinists Have New Deal!

Victoria, BC – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 456, employed by Wilson and Proctor Ltd have ratified a new collective agreement.
“This new agreement reflects a balance between the needs of the skilled tradesmen
And the need to remain competitive in a tough market,” explained IAMAW District Lodge 250 Business Representative Alastair Haythornthwaite.
The new two-year agreement includes a wage increase of 3 per cent in each year. Other agreement include :
• Extra vacation weeks earned earlier
• Improved sick day provisions
• New statutory holiday in February

“Perhaps the most important part of this agreement for both the business and the tradesmen is the premium increases for certifications for different manufacturers,” said Haythornthwaite. “Manufacturers such as Volvo Penta, Perkins and Cummings plus MVI tickets and/or Class 1 and Class 2 driver’s licenses now attract a premium of 25 cents per hour”
Wilson and Proctor is one of the largest engine rebuilding machine shops on Vancouver Island. The 14 members repair and overhaul diesel engines for ships and trucks.
