IAM booth a big hit at annual AME conference

Mississauga, ON – The IAM information booth at the 2017 Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) Association conference was a tremendous success. “We couldn’t have asked for a better result,” said a pleased IAM Transportation District Lodge 140 General Chairperson Dave Freeman. “I would give this a 9 out of 10, and we attracted a great deal of interest from people working in the industry, both Union and non-union alike.

The IAM booth was one of more than 50 displays from Airlines, Repair & Overhaul Facilities, Manufacturers and Distributors and Colleges at the two-day event held at the Hilton Meadowvale Resort and Conference Center. The exhibit hall with the displays was in addition to workshops for students and apprentices.

“We had the opportunity to speak with hundreds of students from area community colleges who are pursuing a career in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering,” explained IAM Canadian Airline Coordinator Carlos DaCosta. “This conference provides the opportunity to meet people in the industry, it gives students a chance to put a face to the names that regulate the aviation world, and the role the IAM plays in that world.”

“You get AME’s from across Canada, non-licensed personnel, industry leaders, students, and apprentices in attendance, it’s a great opportunity to raise our profile with all of these attendees,” explained Freeman. “We can build upon this.”
