Machinists picket Hudbay Mining in Manitoba

Flin Flon, MB – The strike by members of IAM Local Lodge 1848 against Hudson Bay Mining (HUDBAY) entered day four and the picket lines are having an impact at operations in Flin Flon and Snow Lake, Manitoba. “We have imposed a five minute delay protocol at the entrances to the operations and the police have been very satisfied with the conduct of a picket line,” explained IAM Grand Lodge Representative Ian Morland.

While the smoke stack may dominate the horizon around the Hudbay operations at Flin Flon, IAM picket lines dominate the entrances to the facility. The 180 members of IAM Local Lodge 1848 are seeking wage increases to bring them in line with their apprentice and certified trades counterparts in the Pas and Thompson, Manitoba.
