Mississauga, ON – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1922 have ratified a new collective agreement with Schmolz Bikenbach Canada.

“There is a significant increase in the amount the employer will now pay toward the cost of the employee benefit package and this was vital in obtaining an agreement,” explained IAM District Lodge 78 Directing Business Representative Paul Mitchell.

Due to the significant increase in employer contributions to the benefit package there was no wage increase in the first year of the agreement.  Wage increases in the remainder of the agreement are 1 percent in the second year, 1.5 per cent in the third year and 2 per cent in the fourth year. Other agreement highlights include significant improvements in the contract language.

The 17 members manufacture raw steel into specialized steel long products at the Mississauga facility.

Schmolz Bikenbach is the world largest manufacturer and distributor of special steel long products.
