Machinists Ratify with Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre

Toronto, ON – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1295 have ratified a new collective agreement with the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre.
The two-year agreement provides a lump sum payment in the first year retroactive to October 13, 2013 and a wage increase in the second year will be determined following an arbitration award. The agreement also provides improvements to benefit packages and sick time allotments.
“This was an extremely tough round of bargaining and I can’t thank enough the committee of Vivianne Simon, Ewa Pinczak and Olena Parachtchak for their hard work on behalf of the members,” said IAM District Lodge 78 Business Representative Kim Valliere.
The 189 members consist of Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses, Personal Support Workers, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Kitchen personnel. They provide services and care to residents at the Long Term Care facility in Toronto’s west end.
