Site visit tour hits the Maritimes

St. John, NB – Since taking office as Canadian GVP in June 2016, Stan Pickthall has made it his mission to meet face-to-face with as many Canadian IAM members as possible in their workplace.

Over the next year he plans to tour at least fifty locations across Canada and he began this past week with a tour of the Maritimes. Accompanied by Chief of Staff Gord Falconer, Airline Coordinator Carlos DaCosta, GLR Rick Arsenault and District 140 General Chairperson Ken Russell, Pickthall began with a visit to the members of Local Lodge 835 at Clow Canada in St John, New Brunswick.

Clow Canada has been manufacturing fire hydrants since 1834 and is now the only coast to coast manufacturer of fire hydrants in the country. Our members manufacture fire hydrants, butterfly valves, fire protection products, flange adapters and much more. “The variety of products made here by our members is truly impressive,” said Pickthall

The tour also visited IAM Local Lodge 2797 members at Moncton airport who are employed as fuelers at ASIG and Air Canada members from Local Lodge 1763. Pickthall also visited members of IAM Local Lodge 2418 at Lounsbury Automotive at two locations in Bathurst and Miramachi, New Brunswick and Towne Ford also in Miramachi.

The tour then meets with members at locations in Nova Scotia prior to the Maritime Machinists Council being held in Halifax this weekend.
