The IAM’s commitment to supporting women break glass ceilings

The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day, commemorates the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, in which fourteen women were murdered and ten others injured in the name of “fighting feminism”.

Every year on December 6th, as we remember the senseless tragedy and tragic loss of 14 young women with bright futures, the IAM reaffirms our commitment to supporting women within our organization, as well as our commitment to progressive principles, inclusion, equity and diversity.

We not only stand in support but solidarity with women, and all disenfranchised groups who strive for justice, equity and inclusion. May attacks of this kind never again happen, and may hate crimes be a shameful relic of the past, having no place in the future we envision and work to build for ourselves and future generations.

Today we remember and reflect; and with unwavering commitment say, never again.

As part of our commitment to supporting women break glass ceilings and gain foothold in non-traditional sectors, we’ve joined in a national campaign with the National Post. Through our involvement, we proudly showcase Sisters who are trailblazers building a path for other women in non-traditional sectors.

We ask you to take a moment and learn more about the IAM’s efforts in advancing women in non-traditional work.
